AFC Stockport was established in 2003 by Lee Humphries at the Decathlon Sports Store in Stockport.
Back then the team was run to build store morale and team bonding within the Decathlon store. The club name at the time was called Decathlon Stockport.
The team/club as evolved greatly from the early days playing on astroturf pitches in, Kipsta kits on a Sunday night...to now, running as three teams and competing at competitive football with each team. Playing in Adidas kits and with Adidas balls.
Winning Leagues and Cups.
The journey hasn’t been an easy one but has been very entertaining on the way.
The 1st team back in September 2003 would never have thought back then that the club would be where it’s at now.
The Ladies team which started with a couple of girls who use to watch the men’s team...thought they could do just as good. It’s been a long haul for the ladies with players hard to come by..but now they’re ready to take the next step.
The Reserves, an already established 6-a-side team joined up with the 1st team and with the recruitment of more players, the three teams were finally here.
AFC Stockport want the club to be one known for playing football, one known for going about it’s business in the correct manner, one known to give all players an opportunity to play grass routes football.
