In 2006 several lady supporters decided they could do just as good a job as the lads
and with the help of Humphries created AFC Stockport Ladies.
They started out training for months on end, until they played a few friendlies with
Decathlon Giltbrook, drawing both times, Pizza Hut which they won 6 -0, then a defeat
of 25-0 to Platt Lane Ladies. The ladies then decided to go a step further and created
a team of dedicated players for a 5-aside team.
They have become the most improved team in the 5-aside league at power league in
Manchester. From always propping up the table when they first started...to being
runners up in division 1, beating some tough opposition.
Today the Ladies team are now compiling a new look team to go further and create
a winning 11-aside squad and have played annual charity matches for the Guide Dogs
Society for the Blind. This along with two impressive sponsorship deals with Market
Place(europe)Ltd and The Woodley Arms, the future looks good for the team.
